The Habibie Center (THC) is an independent think tank committed to advancing democratic values in Indonesia. Founded in November 1999 by the third President of the Republic of Indonesia, B.J. Habibie, and his family, THC has consistently advocated for a democratic society that respects, protects, and promotes human rights. Currently, THC implements four core programs, one of which is Just Energy Transition and Climate Action (JETCA). In its efforts to support a just energy transition and climate justice, THC’s JETCA Program promotes industrial decarbonization. THC is seeking a researcher to support the implementation of the JETCA – Industrial Decarbonization cluster.
Location: The Habibie Center office, South Jakarta
Contract duration: Full-time (5 days/40 hours per week), with a contract period of 15 months (potential for extension based on performance evaluation and funding availability)
Report to: JETCA Program Manager
Expected start date: August 1, 2026
Tanggung Jawab:
• Research, develop, and carry out research tasks focused on industrial decarbonization policies and governance.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for research purposes and support the preparation and implementation of public events.
• Write evidence-based research reports and policy briefs.
• Support the development and production of knowledge through analysis of industrial decarbonization issues and trends.
• Work alongside the JETCA THC program team.
• Ensure alignment between research design and research content, and be proactive in problem-solving.
• Actively contribute to disseminating research outcomes and findings by engaging with internal and external stakeholders to advance scientific knowledge, foster policy dialogue, and maximize the impact of research.
• Support the implementation of the JETCA THC program strategy through intellectual contributions and the consistent, high-quality execution of research.
• Support the development of THC’s core competencies as a think tank.
• Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals aligned with the JETCA THC program strategy and assist in writing project reports.
Persyaratan:
• Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Development Economics, or a related field, along with practical knowledge in conducting qualitative research.
• At least 3 years of experience in research with in-depth knowledge in the areas of sustainable development governance, energy transition policy, and industrial decarbonization policy.
• Experience in conducting the full research cycle (research design, data collection, data processing, data interpretation, data analysis, and report writing).
• Experience in preparing, conducting, and analyzing data from in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.
• Experience working at a think tank, NGO, university, consulting firm, or government agency.
• Experience in collaboratively delivering a project.
• One (1) letter of reference from a current or previous employer/supervisor (whichever is most recent), if passed an interview.
